Victor Jara

Victor Jara was a folk singer in Chile during the Allende/ Pinochet years that we have been discussing in class. He was brutally murdered by a military leader a few days after Allende was overthrown. His death became a symbol for protesters. His name recently came back into the news in 2016 because the man who killed him was finally being tried for his murder in Florida.
